Types and classification methods of drilling rigs

According to their own characteristics, the classification of oil drilling rigs is not the same in the world's major oil companies and drilling rig manufacturers. In general, oil rigs can be classified according to the following methods.
1. According to drilling method
According to the different drilling methods can be divided into: percussion drilling rig (also known as the drill drilling rig, used to drill water wells. In 1859, the Americans Drake introduced it into oil drilling), rotary drilling rig (its representative is the rotary rotary drilling rig, also become a conventional drilling rig, is currently the world's general drilling rig).
2. According to the power source of driving drill bit rotation
According to the different sources of rotary power to drive the drill bit, the drilling rigs can be divided into: rotary-drive rotary drilling rig, bottom-drive rotary drilling rig (rotary rotary drilling rig plus bottom-hole power drilling tool), top-drive rotary drilling rig (rotary drilling rig plus top-drive drilling device).
3. According to the type of drive equipment
According to the different types of driving equipment, drilling rigs can be divided into: diesel drive drilling rigs (diesel drive drilling rigs can be divided into diesel drive-mechanical rotation drilling rigs and diesel drive-hydraulic transmission drilling rigs), electric drive drilling rigs (electric drive drilling rigs can be divided into DC drive drilling rigs and AC drive drilling rigs).
Direct current drive drilling rig includes: direct-direct current drive drilling rig (DC-DC) and alternating-direct current drive drilling rig (AC-SCR-DC).
AC-driven drilling rigs include: AC generator (or industrial grid)-AC motor-driven drilling rig (AC-AC) and the developing AC variable frequency electric drive drilling rig, that is, AC generator-variable frequency governor-AC motor-driven drilling rig (AC-VFD-AC).
4. Grouping by working machine
According to the different groups of working machines, drilling rigs can be divided into: unified-driven drilling rigs, individual-driven drilling rigs, and group-driven drilling rigs.
5. According to the main transmission type
According to the different types of the main drive sub-drilling rig can be divided into: tape drilling rig, chain drilling rig, gear drilling rig.
6. According to drilling depth
According to the different drilling depth, drilling rigs can be divided into: shallow well drilling rig (drilling depth is not more than 1500m), medium and deep well drilling rig (drilling depth is 1500~3000m), deep well drilling rig (drilling depth is 3000~5000m) and ultra-deep well drilling rig (drilling depth is more than 5000m).
7. By area of use and use
According to the use of different areas and uses of drilling rigs can be divided into: offshore drilling rigs, shallow sea drilling rigs (applicable to 0~5m water depth or swamp areas), conventional drilling rigs, cluster drilling rigs, desert drilling rigs, helicopter lifting drilling rigs slim hole drilling rigs, continuous flexible pipe drilling rigs, etc.
