The running-in period is an important link to ensure the normal operation of the engineering drilling rig, reduce the failure rate and extend its service life. However, at present, some users ignore the special technical requirements of the new machine running-in period due to the lack of common sense of engineering drilling rig use, or because of the tight schedule, or because they want to get income as soon as possible. Some users even think that the manufacturer has a warranty period anyway, and the manufacturer is responsible for the maintenance of the machine if it breaks down, so the machine is overloaded for a long time during the running-in period, resulting in frequent early failures of the machine, which not only affects the normal use of the machine, shortens the service life of the machine, but also affects the progress of the project because the machine is damaged. Therefore, full attention should be paid to the use and maintenance of the running-in period of the engineering drilling rig.

1. Loose
The newly processed and assembled parts have deviations in geometric shape and matching dimensions. In the early stage of use, due to the impact, vibration and other alternating loads, as well as the influence of heat, deformation and other factors, coupled with rapid wear and other reasons, it is easy to Make the original fastened parts loose.

2. Wear fast
Due to the influence of the processing, assembly and adjustment of the new machine parts, the friction surface is rough, the contact area of the mating surface is small, and the pressure condition of the surface is uneven. During the operation of the machine, the concave and convex parts of the surface of the parts are interfitted and rubbed with each other, and the metal debris that falls down is used as abrasive to continue to participate in friction, which accelerates the wear of the mating surface of the parts. Therefore, the content of the running-in period is easy to cause the wear of parts (especially the mating surface), and the wear speed is fast. At this time, if the overload operation, it may lead to damage to the parts, resulting in early failure.
3. Leakage occurs
Due to the loosening of machine parts, vibration and heat of the machine, the sealing surface of the machine and pipe joints will leak. Some defects such as casting and processing are difficult to find during assembly and debugging, but due to vibration and impact during operation, this defect is exposed, which is manifested as oil (water) leakage (seepage). Therefore, the running-in period is prone to leakage.
4. Many operational errors
Due to the lack of understanding of the structure and performance of the machine (especially the new operator), it is easy to cause failure due to operational errors, and even cause mechanical accidents.
5. Poor lubrication
Because the fit clearance of the newly assembled parts is small, and due to assembly and other reasons, it is difficult to ensure the uniformity of the fit clearance. Lubricating oil (grease) is not easy to form a uniform oil film on the friction surface to prevent wear. Thereby reducing the lubrication efficiency, resulting in early abnormal wear of the machine parts. In severe cases, it will cause the friction surface of the precise fit to scratch or bite, resulting in failure.
